Bumping this, I thought it might be interesting to post the link to the University of Kentucky's statement about the settlement for who hasn't read it. It is short, but the most relevant part is this: "Importantly, as the settlement makes clear, the University believes its hiring processes were and are fundamentally sound and were followed in this case. The advisory committee for the position, members of the physics department along with our academic administration and the university’s equal opportunity office all appropriately worked through this hiring process in a manner completely consistent with other positions."It is interesting to compare it to the exerpts listed here (has been linked to before). Also a glance at the source code of the current version of the lecture notes give a date of 7 December 2010 for its latest revision out of the three revisions listest. I doubt it says much, since the action was filed in 2009 though the settlement agreement dates from 14 January 2011. Also, thanks to professor Gaskell's blog I finally noted the sad fact that famed astronomer Allan Sandage has passed away.
