Oh boy, this is embarrassing - I actually think they've got a point. Why should woman have different titles depending on whether they are married, while men do not? *sidles away*

I'm not sure how it is in the UK, but in Australia the marital status-neutral title "Ms" is almost the default for women now.

A similar thing happened in America when feminists from there insisted that one ought not to refer to someone's sex but his gender with the unintended consequence that gender is now used to refer to both things, contrary to what feminists wanted.
