If I could sneakily get one more request in: Don, could you please remove the image tags from that Carrier picture? Hi Ignorantianescia. I agree, it is a bit overpowering! I wasn't sure how to shrink the image, so I've removed the image insert and just left a link to Carrier's blog post where he displays the image. An act of mercy that is much appreciated.

I occasionally view this forum from a library, and Grecian exposure like that in public is a bit indecent and in my personal view also looks a bit weird.

Hmmm well, I take care of all those domestic responsibilities while working a demanding business development job out of my home office. It would be nice to think otherwise but I reckon if I was doing those chores and only making $15k blogging obscure ramblings about Bayes probability theory (in the Bay area - one of the most expensive areas of the states no less) then Mrs C would have kicked me to the curb a long time ago.
I must say the picture of these atheist conferences that emerges is pretty peculiar. They seem like pretty restrained affairs in clips; but behind the scenes you have Michael Shermer drinking heavily and chasing skirts, activists engaging in polyamorous pursuits and PZ Meyers and Richard Carrier getting propositioned by 'A+' groupies. His relationship choice is his own affair, although I must say 47 is probably the wrong age to be getting into all that shenanigans. It's when - as my father says - one should have come to terms with middle age and be more interested in one's geraniums than the pleasures of the flesh.
Oh, happy St Patricks day everyone.

Humphrey, I am pushing 57. And I say to hell with the Geraniums.

Also: Humphrey, you're alive!!! How is the crazy old U S of A? The USA - Too damn cold and covered in a couple of feet of snow at the moment. I need spring to arrive so I can get out on my patio and start planting stuff out in the vegetable garden (bought a house last year). Plan is to get chickens as well but we'll see if we can get around to it.

Little Richie is now apparently trying to use his blog to pick up atheist girls: freethoughtblogs.com/carrier/archives/7394Every time you think he has hit rock bottom, he gets out the jackhammers and goes a little lower.

Within his particular worldview, there's nothing wrong with what he's doing. It's clearly only us prudish Christians with our Victorian morals and paralysing fear of hellfire that have problem with it. Silly us.

My favourite quote:
... like you were with your wife, the woman you swore vows of faithfulness to, when you were having "a few brief affairs"?
What a sorry excuse for a man.

I cannot understand why women find him attractive in the first place. He has no presence, his personality can't be up to much, and he's a poor public speaker with a failed career. Did I mention pretentious and self-centered? Because there's that as well. And just how tacky is begging for a date on your blog? Pretty tacky, in my book! Especially when you spill your guts to the entire internet. Seriously, TMI! If I were a woman I'd be completely creeped out by now.

Guys,
Again, please could we drop the subject of Mr Carrier's sex life. I appreciate he puts it out there but I'm not sure I want to hear about it!
