Just wanted to introduce myself.
I've been a long-time reader of Bede's Library, as it is one of the finest Christian-oriented websites I've come across. All of you are extraordinarily well informed and erudite, so I'm sure my own meager contributions will pale in comparison!
Anyway, about myself: I'm American (from California, actually); I'm 24 years old; I've just finished paramedic school and hope to eventually be a firefighter-paramedic; and, as for my religious beliefs - I grew up Roman Catholic, converted to a vague sort of Protestantism, but have for some time now been considering converting to Eastern Orthodoxy (it's really just about formally "taking the plunge" now). I am mostly interested in analytic philosophy (particularly philosophy of religion), science, and history. So, it seems I've come to the right place.
Anyway, that's who I am. Hope to enjoy many good discussions in the future.

Welcome to the Board. It will be good to have an Orthodox Christian on board so we have representatives of all the main traditions.
I've just been to the Byzantium exhibition at the Royal Academy and most enjoyed the fantastic collection of icons that they have gathered together. They even have several from St Catherine's Sinai which are a real eye-opener. Seeing them makes it clear how much Giotto owed to Orthodox icon painters.
Best wishes
James

Thank you James, we've actually conversed several times via e-mail. My name is Andrew (if you remember at all).
And looking at the exhibition's website, that is quite a fine collection. I'd love to be able to see it myself one day.
Cheers.
