I'd love to login and contribute to that discussion but it seems that when RD.net hit the self destruct button it wiped the last vestiges of my account and won't let me create a new one. It's a conspiracy, Humphrey, and Lord Kitchener would never have stood for it! Lord Kitchener is dead, long live Basil the Bulgar-Slayer

What a colourful metaphor.
Anyway, didn't Newton believe that the ancient Greeks knew his inverse square law? Clearly they didn't, but wasn't there a Renaissance belief in an age of perfect knowledge amongst some?
He doesn't seem to be that consistent, actually he's at times rather elusive.
"We seek him here, we seek him there, Those Frenchies seek him everywhere. Is he in heaven? — Is he in hell? That damned, elusive Pimpernel."
So he would also expect you to read a book on the Uniplanetary Evolution Theory before dismissing it?
It's also ironic he's the one claiming he's getting strawmanned.

Right, on to more important matters.

He doesn't seem to be that consistent, actually he's at times rather elusive. "We seek him here, we seek him there, Those Frenchies seek him everywhere. Is he in heaven? — Is he in hell? That damned, elusive Pimpernel."And after a brief burst of bravado ("I have eternity to debate you, so keep the failed attempts up.") he now appears to have totally thrown in the towel. That sure was a short "eternity" ...

Thanks Tim.
Hopefully the current blog series will deal with that question of Christianity as a cause of science or not.
Best wishes

I just checked the topic and came across this:
Which made me chuckle. Trivial? It seems somebody forgot the debate above that post that proves it does serve some needs.

What a terrible smackdown! I saw the whole of the debate between Tim and Greg on RD's forums and WOW. I haven't seen anyone win in a forum debate by such a land slide in a very long time. Slippery sophistry and bigotry did not avail him much, now did it?
