Hi guys, Stumbled upon this site a couple of days ago...and am very impressed by the scholarly content... A particular 'Hi' to James! I'm Protestant Reformed, not interested in internal conflicts between brethren on here, so trust it won’t be an issue I'm busy acquainting myself with the previous postings and the style and positions of current members, anxious that I don't repeat what for many of you might be 'old hat'. Keep up the quality work. Danny

You "used to be reformed"? Did you go from unreformed to reformed and then unreformed, or was you brought up reformed and then went another way? Forgive me if that's considered too nosey, unkleE, but I'm, in all friendliness, a little intrigued...

Forgive me if that's considered too nosey, unkleE, but I'm, in all friendliness, a little intrigued... Hi, not nosey at all. Discussion is what forums are all about, and I can always ignore what I don't want to answer. I grew up in a non-christian home but was sent to Sunday School, I think because my mother always wanted to do 'the right thing' - it was back in the conservative 1950's. It happened to be Presbyterian Sunday School, and they were a moderately reformed church. I went from Sunday School to youth group and decided to follow Jesus in my mid/late teens, and imbibed a lot of reformed theology - debates on Calvinism, Banner of Truth commentaries, etc. But over time I found reformed theology over-simplistic and humanistic, so I left much of it behind in favour of trying to follow Jesus and truth without a fixed theological position. I say that not to be argumentative, but simply to answer your question. I still have many friends who are reformed, our kids went to a christian school of reformed persuasion and my wife still teaches there. Where are you at?

Thanks unkleE I grew up 'anglican' but was not interested in my religion until I was about 30. Nowadays I tend to lean towards Calvinism if I had to be pinned down. But I'm still reading and learning.

O.K. Seeing as we are into confessions. I audited Hebrew and Greek at the Reformed Theological College in Geelong back in the late 80's early 90's. I still go to their preaching seminars. They are held in the week prior to the AFL grand Final.

But I wouldn't, of course! : ) How did you come to be fluent in Hebrew & Greek?

How did you come to be fluent in Hebrew & Greek? Where did I say that Unklee? I said that I audited H & G. In other words, I studied part time and took no credits for it.

Sorry, I misunderstood the term "audited". An error of hearing? ;-) Unklee said:I was talking about the Greek and Hebrew, though some may apply it to the Geelong Cats!! I would have thought that even you people in Sin City would have heard about the Geelong Cats' exploits last weekend.

I would have thought that even you people in Sin City would have heard about the Geelong Cats' exploits last weekend I did hear they had won by a large margin, but I didn't know the score. 37 goals is ridiculous. The main thing the crowd watched was the man running the ball back to the centre bounce! Just glad it wasn't the Swans on the other end of that score, though it could have been! : (
