This reads like something out of the Onion. A schism has already developed in the much ballyhooed atheist church: religion.blogs.cnn.com/2014/01/04/after-a-schism-a-question-can-atheist-churches-last/?hpt=hp_midMy favorite line is this: Can it get any more rich than that?? Of course, the whole idea is not one revolving around the lack of a belief in God, but an ideological belief that there is no God. That is why the so-called "New Atheists" all sound like a bunch of fundamentalist yahoos for the other side. Most folks who don't believe in God do not need to go to some building to celebrate their disbelief: they just stay home and watch TV. I happen not to ski, but the thought of going to some building to drink hot cocoa with other non-skiers strikes me as quite mad. The fact that this "church" split tells me that there are beliefs involved. So when does the atheist ecumenical movement start?
