One minor fallout from the UK's election is the resignation of Tim Farron as leader of the liberal democrats. Some chin-stroking comment on that here: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jun/14/tim-farron-liberal-democrat-ex-leaderI was wondering what people thought about Farron's statement that he cannot be a bible-believing Christian and leader of a liberal political party. I suspect that he is right that conservative Christianity is now so far from the political mainstream, it is no longer possible to be anything other than a wholesale advocate for gay rights (something I support, FWIW). However, I do wonder if members of other faiths would be put under so much pressure. Luckily for Farron, I understand that there is a vacancy for leader of UKIP for which not being foursquare behind progressive values is probably an advantage. Best wishes James
