If you fancy a hoot I recommend watching 'God and the Scientists', the penultimate episode in the 'Christianity : A (rather one sided) History' series on Channel 4. Colin Blakemore regurgitates the conflict thesis including all our favourite myths, the Galileo Affair as 'science vs religion, Giordano Bruno as a martyr for 'reason', the enlightenment sweeping away Christianity and ushering in democracy and free thinking, Darwin's death blow to all arguments for God's existence, and finally the creation museum in Ohio. Worst thing is, it features interviews with the brilliant Ron Numbers and Peter Harrison, both of whom could have cleared all these misconceptions up. All Christians are either idiotic fundamentalists or dishonest wishy washy moderates clinging to the wet blanket of belief.

For over fifteen hundred years, Christians saw the Bible as the primary source of knowledge, but in the seventeenth Century the beginnings of a scientific revolution began to challenge the Christian view of the world.
Eminent scientist Colin Blakemore interviews esteemed scholars and churchmen in order to understand how science has transformed Christianity over the last four centuries.
He shows how scientists born of the Enlightenment realised that the laws of the universe were there to be discovered, not read about in the Bible.
He argues that science is the biggest challenge Christianity has ever had to face, and that it will eventually make religion unnecessary.

See there is an argument that TV should become more intellectual and educational; but this is utterly fallacious. When programmes of this nature are made they are invariably terrible. TV is for 'Big Brother' and 'Housewives of Orange County'. If you want something improving, read a book.
