A few years ago, Gavin Menzies wrote a very silly book saying the Chinese discovered America (not to mention Australia and New Zealand) in 1421. It sold a million odd copies apparantly and so, inevitably, hehas written a sequel called 1434. It details how a Chinese fleet sailed into Venice and kick-started the Renaissance. Oh dear. A wonderfully sarcastic review from Damian Thompson here: counterknowledge.com/?p=109Also, the Sunday Times has an article, quoting my own literary agent at the end, about how historical biography is being taken over by attractive women happy to take their clothes off: entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article4276549.eceBest wishes James

Attractive women willing to take their clothes off? What's not to like? I only wish I'd gone into history rather than law. ;D
