The Dawk, eh?
Emeritus Oxford don Dawk defaced Twitter timelines with squawk. His poem was gaudy if not to say bawdy: its content was utterly awk.

John Donne (not surprisingly) did it better than Dawkins: www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/175764The Flea By John Donne Mark but this flea, and mark in this, How little that which thou deniest me is; It sucked me first, and now sucks thee, And in this flea our two bloods mingled be; Thou know’st that this cannot be said A sin, nor shame, nor loss of maidenhead, Yet this enjoys before it woo, And pampered swells with one blood made of two, And this, alas, is more than we would do. One hopes that that any unfortunate recipient of Dawkins' attempts at poetry would give the same response as the object of Donne's effort: Cruel and sudden, hast thou since Purpled thy nail, in blood of innocence? (She squashes the flea) There is no excuse for bad poetry (Dawkins) or bad arguments (Donne). Donne was after pre-marital sex. Goodness knows what Dawkins is about. Perhaps the award for literary bad sex?: www.theguardian.com/books/2013/dec/03/manil-suri-wins-bad-sex-book-award-city-of-devi

thanks guys. The Dawk, eh? Emeritus Oxford don Dawk defaced Twitter timelines with squawk. His poem was gaudy if not to say bawdy: its content was utterly awk.Is this your own work, ignorantianescia? Did you translate it out of the original Dutch, or are you highly cultured in more than one language?? Yes, I wrote it, directly in English. Translating it from another language and making it work would actually be much harder. Limericks and derivatives aren't generally regarded as high culture though.

Limericks and derivatives aren't generally regarded as high culture though. Perhaps irony doesn't translate so well either!
