NewScientist has already started celebrating Galileo and Darwin, by asking Who did most to knock man off his pedestal? at www.newscientist.com/article/mg20026877.100-who-did-most-to-knock-man-off-his-pedestal.html. All in all a priceless introduction to the Icons of Modernity, even if fortunately a few peers like Michael Ruse doesn't get fooled by the fallacy of the assumption behind the question (though I don't quite get why man is so elevated based on his agnostic presuppositions). Prize for most clueless contestant must go to Steven Pinker with his It would be interesting to make a TV-series following his hunt for this alleged doctrine before cognitive dissonance overcomes him, or he is knocked off his pedestal. The Jubilee Year 2009 is guaranteed to repeat many a myth on Science and Religion. A good year for writing rebuttals as well - the wise thing is to start now, before the myths arrive in full.
