I was shocked by the story of the family broken up by false accusations of abuse, then when new evidence came to light denied reunion because "adoptions are permanent". I told my wife about this and she was as appalled as I. Reading your discussion of the legal opinion doesn't comfort me; legal decisions in Britain often worm their way over here as "progress".
Meanwhile I'm reading elsewhere about a 12 or 13 year-old boy who has fathered a child with a 15 year-old and is now in paternity disputes because two other boys want to claim paternity. According to the Telegraph,There's some connection here, I just know it...

I share your frustrations. Haven't a clue what to do about it; it's hard to be a Luther King or a Wilberforce when Britain is full of Guardian CIF atheists and America full of Jerry Falwells...
