I've been reading a book lately called Catholic Prophecy by Yves Dupont. It is littered with prophecies with unnamed primary sources and some of the "saints" quoted in it (such as John of the Cleft Rock) appear to be phantoms unknown to history. It mentions a prophecy made by Hildegard of Bingen about a comet causing massive flooding of a "nation of many peoples in the ocean", but fails to mention where exactly in this saint's volumous works it is to be found. I'm no scholar of medieval history, but I'll bet this work isn't to be found among the canon of literature that can be safely attributed to St. Hildegard. It sounds like a riff on the part of the scivias dealing with the Antichrist. I was wondering can anyone tell me for certain that this is a bogus prophecy. It's just that Dupont's "prophecies" appear widely on the internet, and I can't find any sites dedicated to exposing some of the historical fallacies it perpetuates.

Reference a comet passing by the earth cauasing massive floods and earthquakes. Try reading ' Worlds in Collision' by Professsor Immanuel Velikovsky. He drew together many historical sources of information from all over the world, including the OT and the ancient peoples of what is now Mexico and the Americas and demonstrated that in fact that did happen.
As for ' Prophecy,' as such, that is the language of fools and charlatans, and should not be taken too seriously.
