I remember a rather fraught debate about whether some men had a genetic propensity to go walkabout. My idea wasn't very popular (for obvious reasons) but has now received some support at a biochemical level: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7593301.stmOf course, the real debate is not that nature matters (as everyione now agrees it does) but that nurture does not matter much (which remains extremely controversial). I recall seeing a TV science programme on this kind of topic. One part was an experiment in a university where one male and one female experimenter (separately!) had to randomly approach members of the opposite sex and fairly bluntly ask for a shag. About 80% of the guys agreed, but a much smaller proportion of women, about 15% if I recall.
Poor lads must have felt horribly let down...
